EJA participates in the elaboration of the Water Resources Plan for Central North Coast Hydrographic Region

Presenting to the population the current water scenario in the Central-North Coastal hydrographic region and defining its use for the next 20 years were the objectives of the "2nd Workshop of Diagnostic", held on September 12 in Ibiraçu-ES. The workshop is one of the steps of the Elaboration of Water Resources Plan of the Central North Coast Hydrographic Region, which is being funded by Estaleiro Jurong Aracruz.

The River Basin Plan is a management instrument that presents a current diagnosis of water resources use, future forecast of water availability, management actions, projects, works and priority investments for the basin.

The Capixaba river basin covers the municipalities of Aracruz, Fundão, almost entirely the municipalities of Ibiraçu and João Neiva, and part of Linhares, Santa Leopoldina, Santa Teresa, Serra and Vitória.

The situation of rivers and streams, such as the quantity and quality of waters, and other basins characteristics of the Riacho, Piraquê-açu, Reis Magos and Jacaraípe rivers were discussed at the event. About 60 participants attended the workshop, including committee members, farmers, municipal representatives, sanitation companies and other institutions related to water use and management.

The Water Resources Plan is being developed by the Espirito Santo State Water Resources Agency in partnership with Jones dos Santos Neves Institute, the Espírito Santo Foundation for Support Research and Innovation and the State Institute of Environment and Water Resources.
