The second group of trainees formed through the Training Program in Naval and Oceanic Technology, from Jurong Shipyard Aracruz (EJA), returned to Brazil on Saturday, 28.02. The group of 27 trainees was selected from the areas of mechanical, industrial automation, electromechanical, electrical engineering and metallurgy for specialization in Asia offered by the company.
Lasting one year, the course was taught in Ngee Ann Institute, responsible for the training of professionals that work in Sembcorp Marine shipyards. In addition to training, the selected group received intensive course of technical English along three months, also offered by the Ngee Ann staff.
Already employed by the company, the group begins its activities at Jurong Shipyard Aracruz in March.
Awards
The Training Program in Marine and Ocean Technology from EJA enhances their labor within the international standards of quality and efficiency, and therefore, was recognized with a national award from the naval sector.
The company won the award in the category "Path to Competitiveness (CCom)", the fourth edition of Quality and Sustainability Naval Award "Acurcio de Oliveira", which selects the highlights in good corporate practices of sites and companies in the shipbuilding and offshore industry in Brazil.
Sponsored by the National Construction Industry Union, Ship Repair and Offshore (Sinaval), in co-partnership with the Cultural ARO Foundation, the award recognizes the best projects in the areas of quality and innovation, sustainable development, environmental respect and social responsibility.
About the Program
The Training Program in Naval and Oceanic Technology is a professional exchange taught in Singapore and directed to the young technicians trained by the Federal Institute of the Espírito Santo (IFES).
Through training, the program prepares skilled labor in the international standards to work in adult education. Also, it provides technology transfer and training, information and immersion in the cultures and Singapore working practices.
The investment in the program is $ 4 million, five-year forecast, sending 30 students and 3 teachers from IFES annually.
