Employees, managers and the Board of Directors have gathered to pay homage to Brazil's Independence Day on Thursday, September 7. The civic ceremony took place in the morning and was attended by the Mayor of Aracruz, Jones Cavaglieri, and the Municipal Secretary of Development, Divaldo Crevelin.

During the performance of Brazilian National Anthem, the flags of the city of Aracruz, the State of Espírito Santo, Brazil and Singapore were hoisted.

"Estaleiro Jurong Aracruz is a subsidiary of Sembcorp Marine Group from Singapore, but it is also a Brazilian company, from Aracruz. Therefore, this date is important also for all of us, Singaporean" said Mr Altaf Hossain, president of EJA, during his speech.

He also mentioned that Brazil is a country with great potential and that education and work with commitment can change the course of a nation, as happened in Singapore. After the ceremony, the employees were surprised at breakfast with a cake specially prepared for the occasion.
